“It wasn't enough for Megadeth to do well; I wanted Metallica to fail.”

“Judge not lest ye be judged yourself.”
― Metallica
Dave Mustaine
“I let that swim around in my aching head for a few minutes - "the arsenal of megadeath...the arsenal of megadeath" - and then, for some reason I can't quite explain, I began to write. Using a borrowed pencil and a cupcake wrapper, I wrote the first lyrics of my post-Metallica life. This song was called "Megadeth" (I dropped the second "a"), and though it would never find its way onto an album, it did serve as the basis for the song "Set the World Afire." It hadn't occured to me then that Megadeth-as used by Senator Cranston, megadeath referred to the loss of one million lives as a result of nuclear holocaust-might be a perfectly awesome name for a thrash metal band.”
― Dave Mustaine, Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir

“I went there anyway-knowingly, willingly-because I wanted a number one hit. I wanted what Metallica had, even if it meant selling a piece of my soul to the devil.”
― Dave Mustaine, Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir
“So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
... and nothing else matters”
― James Hetfield - Metallica
Metallica
“Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony/ Growing darkness taking dawn/
I was me but now he's gone/”
― Metallica
“DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!”

“And the Earth Becomes my Throne
I adapt to the Unknown
Under Wandering Stars I've grown

“You could hear the stereo from the downstairs neighbors just fine. They were playing Metallica. Playing isn't really the right verb for Metallica, I guess. Grinding, maybe. Extruding.”
― Rick Riordan, The Widower's Two-Step
“Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Moon is full, never seems to change
Just labeled mentally deranged
Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, No windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred”
― Metallica Welcome Home Sanitarium
“Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
Mirror stares back hard
Kill, it's such a friendly word
Seems the only way
For reaching out again.”
― Metallica Welcome Home Sanitarium
“No more can they keep us in
Listen, damn it, we will win
They see it right, they see it well
But they think this saves us from our hell”
― Metallica Welcome Home Sanitarium
“Build my fear of what's out there
And cannot breathe the open air
Whisper things into my brain
Assuring me that I'm insane
They think our heads are in their hands
But violent use brings violent plans
Keep him tied, it makes him well
He's getting better, can't you tell?”
― Metallica Welcome Home Sanitarium
“Sleep my friend and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says Rage”
― Metallica Welcome Home Sanitarium
Jon Wiederhorn
“Bobby conjured up something that scared him to death and he ran out of the house and never came back. Of course you’re supposed to close those doors but they never did… I found these cards dating back to the Salem witch trials that were at a house in New York where we lived with Raven, and they were covered in human blood. They were horrifying. I took about ten of them and they almost destroyed my life…The toilets flushed black and there was infestation of flies. Objects were flying off the counters at us. The house smelled like Rosewater Lavender, which was an old cologne people used in the 1600’s. We would tell the spirit to leave but it would go into another room. I was someone who didn’t believe in any of this and in two weeks I had to become an expert or it would have killed me and my son. Finally I found out who it was, what it was and I had to return it to Salem. Since then it has been a process of getting rid of the residual effects. I had an exorcism done several times….I am a very religious person because of it today. I won’t go into it any further but I will say that Cliff Burton of Metallica had the other half of the artifacts that I had and I really believe they killed him”
― Jon Wiederhorn
J.R. Ward
“It was the kiss. For that brief moment, the volume of her world had been cranked up to Metallica levels, and she had loved the booming bass, and the spinning and twirling, and the sense that her heart had taken flight and not left her body, but taken her physical form along with it.”

Harley Quinn - Birds of Prey

Quinn the harlequin is a profesional psychiatrist who knows how to swing a bat and kick some ass, starting from the ground level up to the face, using some sick wrestling moves and sickle type executions to the legs.

                                           The harlequin

The role of an harlequin is to serve, to be a lighthearted and astute servant, often acting to thwart the plans of his master - in this movie the Joker and later on the Black Mask. The harlequin is the prototype of the romantic hero which has a lot of physical agility, and a considerabele amount of intelligence. This agility plus the brutal yet funny executions of Harley Quinn are salted with witty and educational excerpts from books about psychology. The action is catharhic and fresh, the actress Margot Robbie playing this 16 century character is genius.

There are a lot of impressing things, like the friendship of Quinn with a hyena, her friendship with a little girl who swallowed a diamond, with the rest of the female warriors, caring about small things like a well made sandwich and the people in her neighbourgood. The character has every trait of a true hero: agility, muscle power, wit, heart and soul, style and character, not afraid to speak her mind and to pursue her own dreams, madness and compassion.
                                  The style of the harlequin

The movie Birds of Prey reminded me of the medieval times when you had to be very wise not to upset the king, and also very courageous to speak your mind. Many times art and acting was a way to tell the truth in a way that wouldn't get you killed. And this meant that the harlequin would always remain a servant to the power. Sure, there were the traveling actors who would rebel against their king, while travelling to a distant land. But in the same city or state? No. And this meant a lot of pent up anger. Anger that sometimes wants to be expressed through the swing of a bat. To be powerfull, in control of your emotions. To achieve what psychiatry recommends! And this is what Harley Quinn did, the movie. It was vindicative and redemptive.
                              Redemption through creativity

The beginning of the movie is similar to Rollerball, brutal and deadly. And that movie was realistic and shows the consequences of sponsored violence. Harley Quinn, well, don't take anything from the movie as a good example. It is not cool to be a vigilante, to solve problems with force and guns, to act like a military battalion and so on. This movie, like most of the mainstream american movies are filled with propaganda.Be emancipated, be you and think with your own head what is best for you.

A short story of animals and gardens

The Taygetian world is a place where princesses create circles and circles of enchantment, hypnotizers transform the bad dreams of earth children into clear sky unicorns, trance dreamers blow their windy cloaks to channel the euphoric nightlife sessions, where rapture meets lady bliss in the megalithic hills and witches create the earth crop circles.

It is not so different then our world, the main distinction being the fact that in Taygetta the animals speak. The strange element is that the humans who visit this land can only remember something like of a mechanical light owl, a light that turns on and off while changing its colours. The animals don't speak, only the genie lamp is activated by the push of a finger. Or so the humans say, a nonsense, a convenient one.
                                      The remembered owl

Understandable, yet deeply unrealistic. If the One wouldn't be so mesmerized by his mind, he would see that many strange enchantments are present in the sky of Taygetta. And it the air, all happening in the now moment. This One fellow can indulge in these states of mind, knowing that he came here to enhance his potential.

To become an adventurer, appreciating the excitement of a travelling and the discovery of special treasures. He wants to see colourfull wizard robes. The jewels are within his flowers of the imagination, his phantasticum, waiting to come out in proper form – this sweet Wizard Robes. But, will it happen exactly the way he hoped, will the Robes be Robes?

Of course not! While sitting in the morning to drink his coffee and just get ready to start the day, the One finds out that these desired objects are not Wizard Robes. They are, well colourfull toilets
                                          Not wizard robes

"'Ha, at least they are usefull" says the One.

" I won't trip and fall while i pee in the night and i don't have to turn on the lights either " are his final thoughts on the matter.

The One has some preety cool items to complete his colourfull appearance. He is a big fan of animals, ergo even the most mundane objects have something to do with the animal kingdom. For example, his deer watch. Surely it's not a simple item but an oasis which keeps time in balance. When he looks at it, the One always remembers how he was saved by a deer while visiting the Garden of Frogs. It was a thrill. He was lured there by a cat with the promise to Soar to new Heights. It was a trap of course, there was nothing there in the garden, only a big feast for the cats and some bones for the humans.

                                                                     The Watch

" Oh well, i will always have my watch to protect me." And this protection is necessary as a wolf approaches him from the back of the forest road. The animal has definitely teleported from a magic plane straight to Taygetta, moving merrily but with quick and intimidating reflexes. The One is preety scared of the Wolf. He doesn't like predators, although this wolf is just majestic. His eyes are solid as a planet. His teeth are like a painting of a jungle, wild and fresh.
                                            The White Wolf

"Uaaa, this is exciting", thinks the One.

His plan this morning was to visit a beautiful garden and just chill and relax, instead things got wild again. Like a wild hunt for impressions. A hunt for his beloved japanese garden where he first met her, ahh, that dream that vision, is no more. Gone.

"Nothing to worry" the One whispers after a moment of pain. The garden is still alive and well, the image in his soul is constant, the natural silence of the land is strong. It is a Garden of no words, a place where you can walk barefoot and meet your lover.
                                    The Garden of no Words

" Such a spectacular place " says the One to some invisible piglet gliding through the air. He could very well be an animal at this point but he is not. One is still, still a human and still as an animal, because nothing from the outside world is threatening, not the presidents and wolfs, not the assasins and kings. No, not while the Piglet observes the desire of One for a garden, for his garden.
" Care for a lemonade piglet?" asks the human.

" Sure, just use the antigravitational field to make One" answers the pig to One.

" And how am i supposed to do that? ", the One is in a dillema.

" Just eat the seaweeds from your skin", answers the pig joyfully sitting on some flowers. "Don't worry about the garden, you will be there in no time".
                                             Flower Piglet

And puff, a heart shape portal appears and the pig with all of his flowers is gone. Such a funny creature. A pure love silhuete.

At this point, things get more realistic and the One is teleported too, by the pig or someone else, arriving in the Kyoto Gardens

A story of nature

                                                                    The Woods

The moment is now. The time moves now, second by second. If the wanderer could see this second, her expectations would drop. She would remember what it is to be here now. What it is the feel the clock which can only beat in this moment, to ride the Corridor in the Woods waiting for her now.

As the wanderer passes through this hallway which patiently waited for her, as she moves through the woods and branches, the humid terrain and small hillocks, the woman feels a calm presence all around her. Coming to her senses, the explorer finds out the source of this beam of balance, and the origin is a camouflaged castle. An invisible keep yet somehow the structure seems to have an impact on the world. It is more or less a dream castle living in a tree

                                                                    The Castle

In this moment, everything explodes with details in this world of the sleepers, details of whales and city gardens, well heated homes, clean air and large teritories of grass in which the castellans sit for a night bacchanalia; which the woman finds strange at least. This world doesn't seem too well suited for learning or even developing the intelect, but for a distraction of the senses it is well designed.

Still, as the wanderer passes through the corridor and feels the presence of the castle, she is drawn to the men and women which seem to govern the keep and apparently to rule over her senses. Is it really a festival happening out there in the woods, or just the strangness of my imagination, she asks? And why a festival?

As the wandering woman aproaches the center of action, she sees that there is definitely something going on behind the trees, and not only her thoughts.

                                         Fertility celebration

"Well, men and women don't just appear in the nature, right? It is clear that the forest is alive and bustling with activity. It is even half normal to see plants and mushrooms shooting rays of seed in the air. I have seen that before. But a fertility ritual out here? It feels quite pagan. I like it."

Maby there is something with the mushrooms she thinks. Maby they are halucinogenic. As she aproaches a patch of grass, a glowing light passes through her head but nothing more. Ha, this must be a sign. But its not. The mushrooms look regular, nothing special or active to them.
                                        Regular mushrooms

The heck with it she says: "I am seeing flying peacock arrows in a paralel universe and nothing is too strange for me to make a difference? I must be a person from Earth enjoying my phantasmal ride. Even to doubt myself if i am a person or not is peculiar. This universe is curious, one minute i see an object and the next one i seem to be looking at something else entirely".

This defiance of the laws, this surprise happens because the rules are different in this reality, says a voice in the air, a holographic projection, a dancing humanoid with fur which nonchalantly drinks a brown potion. Thank nature this ape is not after my guts, she thinks. And he is not, in fact everyone can see a beautiful pool of sunrays and clouds behind his head, a force moving in waves of crystals which splash the sand.

                                         The pond in the sky

At the point of impact, at the conjunction of water and sand there are molecules and oak leaves, red maples and a scots pine, even a jubaea tree appearing simultaneously. This creates an understanding for our girl. " Just as men have kingdoms, there are dominions of nature too where the laws don't conveniently feed the greed of the big ape. I do understand".

Do you care to explain? asks a castelan apearing from the woods.

Who are you, says the wander?

I'm the Robe of Phantasticum if you insist, says the chief.

Ok, then if you wish to know what i think, here it comes:

" The nighttime is the daytime, and the daytime is calm and tranquil. It is not to strange for strange colours to appear where they shouldn't, to see arboretums packed in groups of S shaped patterns moving towards the beaces, extending branches towards the birds and lizards, sylphs and starfishes, almost talking with them. And it is not unusual to observe a human logic too, one that says it is  normal for the colours of nature to be different. To be enchanted by this country of Nature. I am quite pleased to be here. "

                                          Enchanted nature

And i hope our little adventure in the woods doesn't scare you?

No it doesn't, she answers.

I would like to show you our castle says the Robe. There is a tight nuclear force keeps everything toghether, although everything looks ready to crumble. The geometry, the stones in the forest, the cells and forces are moving towards the stratosphere and down in the artificial human made domes and vaulted towers of our wood Castle
                                              Moon rising

That is interesting says the Explorer, and pauses to think deeply.

There is definitely a moon behind the trees, a giant organism in deep relaxation.

Everything here feels like all the wanderers are booted in a planetary matrix which is kind of having fun with its visitors. And the first rule of fun is the Rule Surprising Confusion.

Why i like and don't like Disturbed

First of all the song Prayer is genius and offers so much of the lead vocalist Draiman, that the first time i listened to it i felt that the Rapture, the reaping of Souls or the Apocalipse is happening right in front of me. Also, the light in the video seemed like an Annunaki ritual, dark and misterious, something to provoke fear and admiration. Of course, this is not what really happens in the minds of the artists. Art is not equal to personal beliefs. Catharsis comes from accepting and embracing the deep nature of human psyche, from embracing the animal and the occult. I believe this ideea is shown beautifully in the song and video called The Animal, which is super pagan. The feast is not evil and in many ways i believe it is more respectfull then modern society which pretends to be correct and builds many taboos around the perceived occult. What others critique the band for, i believe it is their strength, the power and rage of the lyrics that provoke the purification of pity and fear. Their newer material though seems to be made more for the fans, loosing some of the piercing edge of the vocals and more towards soothing the pain of the fans. Which is very noble, although i believe no one should be or be seen as a Savior by others.  I will explain

Personally, i wouldn't want someone to write this and i quote:  " I'm an injured firefighter and was considering taking my life tonight. This song came on the radio in my truck so I had to pull it up on youtube. I don't think this happened by chance tonight. Thank you Disturbed".

I believe most of the persons who wish to take their life project a lot of negative emotions on the persons around them, especially on the loved one which suffers just as much. If you are the boyfriend or girlfriend of a person who wishes to take his or her life, your life is not easy at all. Since no one wants to be The Saviour, the boyfriend or girlfriend should be by default. And who wants to be in this role? I know i wouldn't want to be.

Draiman does a noble thing making the video Inside the Fire and talking in a very balanced manner about his former girlfriend who took her own life, even though she was a drug addicted person who got him into hard drugs. I'm not sure this attitude of the Savior is adequate, not because of him but because of the expectations and standards of the belief systems. What if you don't want to be the Saviour and you do know of a person who is contemplating suicide? Why should you carry the burden, and it is a burden, of the one who should act? And be the one to blame for your perceived inaction. Society reinforces guilt, and why should the person next to the person who is contemplating suicide should bear the burden of knowing? I apreciate what Disturbed is doing as a band but real life is a bit different in some situations. First of all, the police has something to say which is not positive at all, the police has something to say to the person "closest" to the one who is contemplating suicide. Even the question "Did you know that person X was contemplating suicide?" is ghoulish, implying that you should be doing something if "you knew". I find this attitude despicable. I know most of the ones listening to Disturbed music are honest but others are not. This is my main critique to the band and the music.

In a positive note "Sometimes darkness can show you the light".

Harry Potter, a critical review

Hello to my readers, this is Alex writing.

First of all, my girlfriend and partener loves Harry Potter and has read all the books several times. I believe the novels and more importantly what they show helped her in some difficult times, just like Harry is helped by his friends. The main element and the core of the books, in my view at least, is the light of the eternal and consistent friendship which shines just like the rays of the Patronus, the spirit animal from the woods.
                                 Patronus Harry Potter - Deer

The books and the movies are consistent from start to finish in the friendship sector, showing us a good example and by this single thing alone, which is in my view the determination to follow the love between friends and families; by this single most important element, the flaws of the books and the movies are alchemised, transformed and made noble without the need for banners and flags. When i listen to a good piano composition which is minimalistic but profound, for example that of Ludovico Einaudi, its simplicity speaks volumes. A great composition starts and ends with the main theme, and Harry Potter feels like it is in the love and friendship sector. Consistency and persistency is the key, and not too many books or movies keep the straight line.

Harry's friends are with him in the darkest of the days and hold the torch up,
                                     The half blood prince

which sometimes means a lot of trouble and fun. It can be said that in real life this level of friendship is an ideal; it can be whispered that the fantasy, magic, books and movies are a coping mechanism for some hardcore real life issues; for the moment when you want a friend but the world is cruel and leaves you alone. Sometimes i see how fantasy is making the readers even more immersed in their world with the characters from the book, defending them to the limit of not making those personas evolve; creating a cult like aproach. This is not my main critique though. Everyone gets a little too pasionate about what he or she loves. This defense comes from holding the values. Some things should stay the same. I wouldn't want things to be too loose either. What if Hagrids hut would look like a spaceship because its the vision of a director?
                                           Hagrids Hut

The author, in this case J.K Rowling has a lot to say in the production of her work and it is all right. My main critique is more fundamental and it has very much to do with the motivation in writing. Usually, great works of literature are created in times of powerfull stress which fuels the internal needs of an author; a writer who is willing to put so much of him or her into the characters, living the unconscious or conscious desires through the art of writing. This is all well and good but what is created with the power of imagination, can put a lot of pressure on a real actor playing "the boy who lived". It is my perception that JK Rowling wanted a son and Harry was her joy and love, her fears and desires; the dementors being the barrage of negative thinking, the media and the bad happening in the world.
                                        Starry Dementors

I understand and my critique comes from a point of compassion i believe. An author should see the manner in which her desires can influence the collective fears; a writer should try to "do better". And i am sure JK Rowling is. My first impression of her was a negative one though, that of a desperate parent who cringes on things. I thought it wasn't fair to project all her fears on a character, obsessively talking about Harry. I thought and still think it is too much of a fixation. Or maby that is how everything seems in my eyes and the reality is different.

In an interview between Harry and JK Rowling, oops, i meant to say between Daniel Radclife, well, even the fact that i cant seem to know how the author is really looking at the person in front of her, which is a Different person, an actor, a man - Daniel; the fact that i can't seem to know how Rowling views Daniel means that i believe she is not sufficiently detached.

In any case, i like the world created in the books. Everything is integrated and has logic. Hogwarts is great and feels like a real magical castle. The animations in the book done by Jim Kay are wicked.

                                        Hogwarts Castle

There are a lot of interesting characters in the book like professor Severus Snape, which seems to despise Harry at first. All those characters give a feeling of relief and support. All the effort put in protecting the boy feels like it is well worth it, being super caring. Even Snape is not a "bad guy" and helps Harry navigate the world of supperstitions. And superstitions they are, plenty of them.
                                  professor Severus Snape

There is no "linking" between a person and its evil counterpart - Voldemort. There are people who believe in this linking, that is true certainly. Our world is full of this supperstition, at a conscious or unconscious level. In its essence, this belief is just a dungeon, a prison belief fueled by weakness and lack of awareness. Maby what it is to learn here is to stay away of persons which have this extreme belief? Definitely. At this point i feel like fantasy is just too real, mimicking our world. We should be more wise, like an owl in the woods.
                                   Snowy Owl in the Woods
